We provide structured dog walking and adventure services across Christchurch and surrounding areas.
Each walk incorporates physical exercise, cognitive enrichment, reinforcement of obedience and recall, and carefully managed group dynamics based on behavioural compatibility.
Our focus is on developing dogs that can cope, adapt, and succeed in real-world environments, not just controlled settings.
The assessment process begins with an initial meet and greet within your home, followed by an outdoor behavioural assessment conducted one-to-one between the handler and your dog.
All dogs are required to complete this assessment prior to joining, alongside our signup forms and terms and conditions. This allows us to gather important information regarding health, history, and individual personality traits.
The assessment is conducted in a low-pressure environment where we evaluate behavioural thresholds, social compatibility, recall, responsiveness, triggers, and arousal levels.
This process enables us to observe your dog in both a familiar setting and a practical, real-world environment, providing a well-rounded understanding of behaviour, responses, and overall suitability.
From there, we determine whether your dog is best suited for one-to-one handling, gradual integration, or structured group walks. All integration is carried out at the dog’s pace, based on demonstrated behaviour and suitability.
Doggo’s Off Leash operates with a focus on demonstrated competency.
We apply evidence-informed, behaviour-based handling practices across all environments, with a strong focus on safety, consistency, and real-world outcomes.
Safety is priority.
We implement structured pick-up and drop-off procedures, behavioural assessments prior to group inclusion, controlled group compositions, and ongoing monitoring of behaviour and wellbeing.
We operate in alignment with obligations under:
We operate across Christchurch and wider Canterbury regions using approved public spaces and suitable environments.
We ensure compliance with local bylaws and manage on-lead and off-lead use appropriately. Responsible handling includes understanding where dogs can and cannot go, while also considering the individual dog and their specific needs.
Each dog is treated as an individual, with environments, exposure, and expectations tailored to support success rather than set them up for failure.
No.
Dogs are only off-leash when it is legally permitted, safe, and appropriate for that individual dog, and where reliable recall and control have been demonstrated.
Where required, dogs are mana
Not all dogs are suited to group environments — and that’s okay.
Where a dog is not yet suitable for group integration, we may recommend a one-to-one handling approach or a gradual integration plan based on demonstrated behaviour, thresholds, and confidence.
All progression is carried out at the dog’s pace, prioritising safety, welfare, and long-term success.
Group sizes are carefully managed, typically between 6–10 dogs depending on behavioural compatibility, environment, and individual needs.
This is not based on numbers alone, but on safe, structured handling and group stability.
